What we’re looking for:
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Chef to join our culinary team and contribute to the exceptional dining experience we offer at Elk Lake Lodge. The ideal candidate should possess a passion for food, a deep understanding of various culinary techniques, and a keen eye for detail. As a Chef, you will be responsible for planning and executing menu items, managing kitchen operations, catering services, and ensuring the highest quality of food presentation and taste all while managing food costs and minimizing waste.

Responsibilities
The responsibilities would include, but not limited to:
• Collaborate with the culinary team to create innovative and appealing menu offerings that align with the restaurant’s concept and customer preferences.
• Regularly update and adjust menus based on seasonal ingredients, food trends, and customer feedback.
• Ensure that menu items are well-balanced, visually appealing, and consistent in taste and quality.
• Oversee the preparation and cooking of all dishes, ensuring adherence to established recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
• Train and guide kitchen staff in proper cooking techniques, food handling, and safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, promoting a culture of hygiene and efficiency.
• Maintain a meticulous approach to food quality, plating, and presentation, maintaining high standards of taste, texture, and appearance.
• Provide leadership and direction to kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Schedule shifts, delegate tasks, and oversee the performance of kitchen team members, providing constructive feedback and training as necessary.
• Uphold and enforce food safety standards and hygiene regulations, ensuring compliance with local health codes and regulations.
• Train staff on proper food handling, sanitation, and kitchen safety protocols.
• Maintain a full weekly inventory of all food and food management products to ensure accurate food cost management.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
• Proven experience as a Chef in a high-volume, fine dining, or upscale restaurant setting.
• Culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and cuisines.
• Strong creativity and ability to develop unique and appealing menu items.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Certification of food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional culinary experiences.
• Knowledge of food cost management.
